Democratic Internships & Fellowships

Each calendar year, the Office of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs accepts applications for paid interns and legal fellows to serve alongside Committee staff during spring (January-May), summer (May/June-August), and fall (September-December) terms.

The Chairman’s Office seeks interns and fellows to assist full time Majority staff with legislative research projects, hearings, and administrative tasks, while gaining firsthand knowledge on the unique policy issues impacting American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians. Undergraduate, graduate, and law students and recent graduates are welcome to apply. Successful applicants will have interest in matters within the Committee’s jurisdiction including, but not limited to, economic development, land and natural resources management, public safety, community infrastructure, education, health care, the federal trust responsibility, and water settlements, and have excellent research and writing skills, as well as strong academic or professional records. The Chairman’s Office is an equal opportunity employer.  Individuals from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Indian Country, Hawaii ties a plus. Stipends are provided; full-time (40 hours/5 days per week) preferred. Normal work hours are 9am-6pm Eastern Time, Monday-Friday.
